Hidden With Christ

Your real life is not yet visible — this is a feature, not a bug. God hides His work before He reveals it.

Identity in Christ

Colossians 3:3

By Dr. Asante Antwi · Kavod Elohim Daily

We want our lives to be visible. We want our identity to be seen. We want our faith to be recognized. We want our faithfulness to be noticed. We want the world to know who we are and what we’ve done for God.

Paul says your life is hidden. And he says this like it’s good news.

“For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”

Colossians 3:3 · NKJV

Not a Problem to Fix

The Greek word is kryptō — hidden, concealed, stored away, kept safe. Your life is not on display. It’s not public. It’s not visible to the world. It’s hidden with Christ. In God.

This is not a problem to fix. It’s a reality to embrace.

The Death

“For you died.” That’s the reason your life is hidden. You’re dead. The old you — the one that wanted to be seen, that wanted recognition, that wanted to build a name for itself — that you is dead. Buried. Gone.

What’s alive is hidden. Not because it’s shameful. Not because it’s weak. But because it’s not yet time for it to be revealed.

The Already/Not Yet

This is the tension of the Christian life. You are already a new creation. You are already seated in heavenly places. You are already holy, blameless, adopted, chosen. But none of it is visible yet. The world doesn’t see it. Often, you don’t feel it.

Your real life — your resurrection life, your eternal life, your life in Christ — is hidden. It’s stored up. It’s kept safe. It’s not yet manifested. But it will be. Colossians 3:4 says, “When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.” The hiddenness is temporary. The revelation is coming.

The Feature

We treat hiddenness like a bug. Like something’s wrong. Like God’s forgotten us. Like our faithfulness is wasted because no one sees it.

But hiddenness is a feature. It’s how God works. He hides His work before He reveals it. Moses was hidden in the basket before he led Israel. David was hidden in the fields before he became king. Jesus was hidden in Nazareth for thirty years before His public ministry. The seed is hidden in the ground before it bears fruit. Your hiddenness is not abandonment. It’s preparation. It’s protection. It’s the way God keeps your life safe until the day of revelation.

The Safety

“Hidden with Christ in God.” That’s the location. Not hidden in obscurity. Not hidden in shame. Hidden with Christ. In God. The safest place in the universe.

Your life is not hidden because it’s worthless. It’s hidden because it’s valuable. Because it’s with Christ. Because it’s in God. No one can touch it. No one can steal it. No one can destroy it. It’s kept safe in the Father’s hand. This is the deepest security. Your life is not in your own hands. It’s not in the world’s hands. It’s not subject to the world’s judgment, the world’s recognition, the world’s approval or disapproval. It’s hidden with Christ in God.

The Hiddenness That Led to Glory

Jesus was hidden. He was hidden in the womb. Hidden in Nazareth. Hidden in obscurity for three decades. And then He was hidden in the tomb. Three days of hiddenness. Three days when it looked like everything was lost.

But the hiddenness was the pathway to the revelation. The tomb was the pathway to the resurrection. The hiddenness was the pathway to the glory. Your hiddenness is the same. It’s the pathway to your revelation. It’s the pathway to your glory. It’s not the end of the story. It’s the middle.

Sit With It

  1. Do you struggle with hiddenness? Do you want to be seen, recognized, noticed?
  2. Can you trust God with your hidden life? Or are you trying to force it into the light?
  3. How does knowing your life is hidden with Christ in God change how you face obscurity?

Prayer

Lord, I struggle with hiddenness. I want to be seen. I want to be recognized. I want my faithfulness to matter in the eyes of the world. Forgive me. My life is hidden with You. In the Father. That’s the safest place in the universe. Teach me to trust the hiddenness. To trust the preparation. To trust that the revelation is coming. Until then, I rest in the hiding. Amen.
