God’s presence doesn’t mean we escape hardship

There are moments in life when we feel alone. We may be surrounded by people yet still experience loneliness, uncertainty, grief, or fear. During difficult seasons, it can seem as though God is distant or silent. Yet one of the most comforting truths in Scripture is that God never abandons His people. His presence is constant, faithful, and unchanging.
From the beginning of the Bible to the very end, God reveals His desire to dwell with His people. He walked with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, accompanied Israel through the wilderness by a pillar of cloud and fire, filled the tabernacle and the temple with His glory, and ultimately came to us through Jesus Christ — Emmanuel, “God with us.” Today, every believer has the privilege of God’s abiding presence through the Holy Spirit.
God’s presence does not mean we will never face hardships. Instead, it means we never face them alone. He walks beside us in every valley, strengthens us in every trial, comforts us in every sorrow, and fills our hearts with peace when the future feels uncertain.

Living in God’s Presence

Take time each day to recognize His nearness. Your circumstances may change, but God’s presence never does. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, faithfully walking beside you through every season of life.
A prayer for God’s presence
Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful promise that You are always with me. Even when I feel alone or uncertain, Your Word reminds me that You will never leave nor forsake me. Help me to become more aware of Your presence in my daily life. Strengthen me when I am weak, comfort me when I am discouraged, and guide me when I do not know which way to go. Teach me to seek You through prayer, worship, and Your Word, and help me to trust that You are working even when I cannot see what You are doing.
